Honorable Paknaan Barangay Captain Malaquias A. Soco started the concept of establishing the Annual Silhig (Broom) Festival in the year 2012. Last February 14, 2016 was their 5th year celebration. The Festival is their one way of adoring Senior Santo Niño. The main goal is to be known worldwide and to be recognized as the quality producer of Brooms not only here in the Philippines, but to the world. Roads are closed into traffic, days before the event.

One of the main objective in celebrating the event is the Youth Involvement. In order to prevent their youth groups from bad vices is they encourage the youth to participate and co-organize the said event. Appointing Mr. Niño Matiliano, a local resident of Paknaan, as the General Choreographer for the whole celebration. But most all, the Officer's main goal is for promoting unity and enjoyment of the whole Barangay Paknaan community.

Most of the spectators during the celebration are the locals of Paknaan and some were Foreign Tourists. Honorable Cebu City Vice-Governor Agnes Magpale participated in the event as one of the Guests-of-Honor. So, be sure to visit Barangay Paknaan especially on the second Sunday of February to witness a showcase of extra-ordinary Cebuano talents.
